READY FOR SUMMER Challenge Week 5 Check-In and Week 6 Goals

5 weeks down, 5 to go! My goals for this week were...

Weight Loss :: Lose 2 lbs.

This was a success. From what the scales said this morning, I am down 5 lbs this week. It was closer to 6 lbs yesterday, but I'm swelled like a balloon today. Both, my hands and feet are swollen. Too much sodium yesterday. Well and that piece of cake I ate last night probably didn't  help matters any either.  Here you can see my weights from the week.

Sunday, April 22 :: 289.0
Monday, April 23 :: 288.8
Tuesday, April 24 :: 287.9
Wednesday, April 25 :: 285.8
Thursday, April 26 :: 286.0
Friday, April 27 :: 285.2
Saturday, April 28 :: 283.4
Sunday, April 29 :: 284.0

A 6 lb loss would have been great, but I'll take 5lbs on any week. I'm thrilled!  One of my original goals was to lose 20 lbs during this journey. We are 1/2 way into this challenge and I'm right around 1/2 way to my goal. Yay.

SW: 293.8
W1: 292.8 (-1)
W2: 292.0 (-0.8)

W3: 292.0 (-0)
W4: 289 (-3)
W5: 284.0 (-5)
CW:284.0 (-9.8) Total so far.

NSV :: Make it 3 days without Diet Coke.

Yeah, this didn't  happen. Two days, tops.

Exercise :: Attempt P90X Plyometrics with my husband again. Make it further than the 21 minutes we made it last time.

Time was not in our favor. We never could work out the time to do it together. He'd work out when I was busy and I'd work out when he was at work. But I did do The Biggest Loser workout by myself. Does that count?

Nutrition :: Track every single calorie. Even if I eat out, even if I eat crap, even if I go over.. track it! Be accountable for my actions!

I have done very well on this. If there has been something that I didn't know the calorie content on, I made a note of it on the page for that day.

Now that Week 5 is over and we are moving on to Week 6. My goals for this week will be the same as this week.

Weight Loss :: Lose 2 lbs.
NSV :: Make it 3 days without Diet Coke.
Exercise :: Attempt P90X Plyometrics with my husband again. Make it further than the 21 minutes we made it last time.
Nutrition :: Track every single calorie. Even if I eat out, even if I eat crap, even if I go over.. track it! Be accountable for my actions!

Good luck this week everyone!!  Make it a great one!

  1. OMG! YOU LOOK AWESOME!

    In every progress photo your beautiful face comes to life more and more. :)

    Way to go with the 2lb loss!

    Yes, doing the BL workout counts. While they're not as extreme as P90X, they can be intense? Which DVD do you have?

    Just to let you know, I am sending an e-mail to your Hotmail account. I want to thank you privately for all your comments. What an honor it has been to read thoughts on my progress from the person who I looked to for motivation for the first part of this year (and still do). Look for that e-mail tomorrow.

    Look back at these months, would you say always documenting your food intake has played just as much of an important role in your weight loss as your workouts, cutting back on Diet Coke, and eating better?

    1. Thank you for your kind words, Wendy. I really appreciate them.

      The Biggest Loser workout that I did yesterday I'm pretty sure is just called "The Workout".

      http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51NEeztjK1L._SL500_.jpg It's the one on the left in this link. I did the low impact version.

      I'll be sure to check my email first thing in the morning. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

      I don't necessarily think that documenting my food intake has played as much of a role, but it keeps me grounded. I kind of have an idea where I am at. It has helped me to see that I was way off with my ideas about what a serving was.

      I don't think that cutting back on Diet Coke has had as much of an impact as just adding a lot more water. Quitting the Diet Coke is just a goal because I know I shouldn't drink as much as I did in the past. When I lost 75 lbs a few years back, I didn't quit the Diet Coke at all and still lost at a very good rate.

      I think that eating better makes me healthier, but I think you can lose weight by eating what you want as long as you keep your calories in check. But that doesn't mean our bodies will function as good as they would were we eating really healthy meals. If that makes sense.

      I hope you had a fantastic weekend and that you did great this week.

  2. Alana - WOW! Love the new pictures. You can totally see that the work you've been putting into your exercise etc. has been paying off. Super happy for you! Terrific work with your exercise this week and being mindful of what you eat. Whatever form of exercise and however long you do, it counts. It all adds up so keep at it!
    Awesome work this week - good luck for week 6 :)

  3. Nice loss. I recently gave up my addiction to diet pepsi. It was not easy ! But I am very glad I did. What helped me was drinking herbal tea. I had bad headaches, but they went away after a while. I am sure they were from the caffeine. The other thing I did and still do was drink several glasses of water. Good luch on week 6!

    1. Thanks, Michele. I hope you have a great week 6 too! I weaned myself off of Diet Coke slowly at the begining of January. I use to drink it all day long, everday. So now my goal is to quit drinking it all together, but I usually end up with at least one a day.

    1. Thank you for the kind words. I remember feeling beautiful years ago. It's been a long time since I've considered myself beautiful, but I am better than I use to be.

  7. The pictures are great! And, losing five pounds in one week is fantastic. I've "almost" given up diet sodas but will still have one or two a month. Keep up the good work as we start on week six. :)

    1. I'd love to only have a couple Diet Cokes a month. I have about one a day. Still much better than where I was. Congrats on your success with it. Very inspiring. Good luck this week.
