About Me

This is me, Alana Jo. Yay for self-portraits!
Here we have my wonderful hubby Michael and our youngest son Dalton.
And last but certainly not least my oldest son Bailey.

Hello there! Thanks so much for taking a moment to stop in learn a little about my family and myself.

I am a thirty year old Mom from Kentucky who has been happily married for almost eleven years. Michael and I are blessed with two very unique and spirited little boys and an angel in Heaven.

I come from a large extended family who mean the world to me. If you follow my blog, you probably already know that. There are very few posts that I'm not mentioning something about one of them.

In our house, we also consider our pets our family. We have five dogs: three Labs, a Shih Tzu, and a Dachshund, two mixed breed cats, four hens, a rooster, as well as three ornery goats and some fish.

I am currently a SAHM, and I am beyond thankful that I can be here for my children. I am a college graduate with an Associates in Arts, Associates in Science, and I have my Medical Transcriptions Diploma. I worked for several years as a Certified Nurses Assistant at a local nursing home. However most recently I worked as a Direct Care Provider and Medical Coordinator Assistant with a SCL facility that provides an alternative to institutional care for individuals with mental retardation or developmental disabilities.

I have battled my weight for years. Up, down, up, down. I don't remember ever being thin. In 5th grade I was 130 lbs, my freshman year in high school I was 180 lbs. I was happiest with myself when I met my husband in March 2000. At that time I was around 215 lbs.  It wasn't the lowest weight I have ever been, but it was the most fit.

After Michael and I got married, I quickly gained weight. I weighed 255 the day I came home from having my oldest son, Bailey in August 2001. I had my younger son in 2005. The day I came home from having him I was 275 lbs.

It was after I had Dalton that I hit 307! I about died when I saw that number on the scale and immediately I decided I had no choice to but to lose weight. From March 2007 until January 2008 I lost 70+ lbs. My lowest weight being  around 236. At that weight I could easily run 30 minutes at 4 mph on the treadmill without stopping.

I had a breast cancer scare which resulted in a couple surgeries and my Mom became very ill shortly thereafter. I just gave up. There is no other way to put it. I fed my worry with food. I gained back every single pound I had lost plus more. I really have no idea how much I weigh at this point, but it is a lot. We will find out, very soon.

I hope you will join me on this battle to lose the flab. I am thrilled to be sharing my photos and ramblings with you all  and can't wait to get to know each of you better! Feel free to add a link back to your blog if you decide to leave a comment so that I can return the favor!
God Bless!
