Day 119

Today has been a good day. I slept late and woke up in a much better mood than I went to bed in. Thank goodness!

I did a bit of cleaning around the house, but not as much as I should have. I wanted to relax a little, and I did. Michael made it home from work a little before 3 pm, which made my day. It is great when we can enjoy some family time together without worrying about Bai's schoolwork or Dalton's homework.. He, the boys, and I, along with my nephew went for a ride on our 4-wheelers and motorcycles through the mountains. We live in the boonies so there are miles and miles of trails around here. I'm pretty sure we crossed paths with a bear. We definitely heard some sort of wild animal. Thank God, we didn't run into it though. I'd have peed my pants.

We came home, did the usual evening feeding and relaxed a little while. After we rested up a bit, I cooked supper and baked a cake for Mom's birthday. It isn't until Tuesday, but Dalton has a field trip that day, and I won't be able to spend any time with her. I figured I'd take it to her tomorrow when we go down to eat dinner with the family. As soon as the boys heard the word cake, they had to have one too. So I actually ended up baking two. I won't lie, I did have a small piece. But I didn't go crazy, and my daily calories still came in within range.

The scales were super friendly this morning. I just hope it sticks for the big weigh-in tomorrow. I didn't get on the treadmill today. I really thought that I would, but the day was gone before I knew it. By the time I finished with dishes and got Dalton showered, Michael was ready for bed so it was a no go. I did do The Biggest Loser workout today along with the Tone Up Your Arms for Summer video. So it wasn't a total waste of a day.

I guess I better get a shower and in bed. If you are out there reading, I hope you are having a fantastic weekend!

  1. Going riding through the mountains sounds like so much fun! What a change that would be to the flat desert terrain I live in. Glad you had a good day - happy birthday to your mom :)

  2. Alana Jo!

I have to be completely honest with you. I love, love, love reading your blog, however, I consciously avoid it when I have gotten completely off track. Seeing your success reminds me of exactly what I need to do (and what I'm not doing). But then I snap back into a more positive frame of mind and come to see how you're doing and am so in awe of your progress and how well you're keeping things in balance.

How is your mom doing these days? Is she doing better?

    1. I'm so glad you come back, Wendy. We all have off days. I had one today, yikes. I felt horrible, was hungry, the food was there, and I just ate without even worrying about how many calories were in it. I admit that I do feel kind of guilty about it tonight, but what is done, is done. Tomorrow is a new day, and it will be better.

I hope that things are going well with you. You have come so far, you certainly have the ability to continue. Falling off doesn't mean failure. Just pull yourself up by your bootstraps and try again. At least that is what I am telling myself.

Mom is doing a lot better recently. She had pneumonia, dialysis wasn't taking enough fluid off, so she ended up with congestive heart failure and fluid built up in her lung. We almost lost her a couple times. After a trip to the hospital, and them taking off too much fluid, she had some issues with her heart beating very rapidly. As a result she lost a chance at a kidney and was removed from the active transplant list. But just the other day, the transplant center received the results from her most recent work-up and we found out she is now back on the active waiting list. Thank God.

Thank you so much for asking!

How have things been with you?
