READY FOR SUMMER Challenge Week 7 Check-In and Week 8 Goals

Sorry I am super late! Yikes!

Weight Loss :: Manage to land on anything below 282.9. Any loss at all will thrill me.

This didn't happen. I was 283.2 on Saturday. Didn't weigh in on Sunday. I was just too busy and honestly didn't think a thing about it. I wanted to do measurements but didn't find time for that either.

NSV :: Try not to be a nutcase all week and get my motivation back.

Ok, this one was pretty well a success. I wasn't a complete nutcase all week. Now that Aunt Flo has moved on to someone else, I am more myself. At times I did find myself more motivated. But, I was so busy at other times that when I had a minute to exercise, I just wanted to lay on the couch and relax.

Exercise :: Put a serious effort into getting some form of exercise, everyday!

Well, I did break my walking record. I did 5 miles in one day this week. I also beat my time at P90X by 9 minutes. But I didn't workout everyday.

Nutrition :: Try not to eat crap.

This didn't happen.

The end of this challenge is coming up and I still need to lose 10 lbs.  My goal for next week is just to do better with all the categories. Good luck everyone.

Day 133 & 134

We've been busy, busy, busy with Mother's Day weekend activities.

Yesterday we spent most of the day cleaning here in the house, to my parents house for yet another fish fry, and then we drove an hour away to Michael's parents house. It was 1:30 am before we made it back home.

I slept til noon today, the boys had spent the night with my sister so I had no reason not to enjoy it. As soon as I was up and showered I went to spend the day with Mom.

This evening I mainly laid around on the couch watching sappy movies and eating watermelon and strawberries.

Totally lazy weekend.

Day 132

Sorry I didn't get to update last night, but I was too tired or lazy may be the better word.  Michael was off yesterday, well actually he is off all weekend, and we spent the whole day on the go.

As soon as we got up, we done P90X Plyometrics. I actually lasted a few minutes longer than he did and made it 30 minutes this time. That is a whole 9 minutes longer the last attempt. Yay! I'm a little sore this morning, but not too bad and not nearly as sore as I was before.

Michael ended up finishing the video late last night. I was going to do it with him, but he started while I was putting groceries away and by the time I got the kitchen lined back out, he was finished. I was finally able to get to the grocery store and pick up some healthier food options. Maybe this week will be better, food wise. I need it to be, desperately.

Speaking of food, I did fair with my intake yesterday. Nothing spectacular. I didn't get all my water in though. I always do better with that when I am home. I can't stop to pee every 2 minutes when we are out and about.

So that was yesterday. Nothing exciting.

Day 130 and Day 131

Yesterday was Day 130 of this journey to health and happiness. The boys and I spent the whole day here at home and Michael opened at work. During the summer I love when he opens. This means we get to spend the whole evening together. Even if that means working around the house, we are together, and that makes me so happy.

Food was eh, not the best in the world. I didn't have any structured cardio, but I did do Tone Up Your Arms. My right foot felt like I was starting to get a blister on the bottom front. Then my left ankle was tender and I could barely bend my big toe on the left foot. I think that walking almost ten miles in two days was just too much at once. I believe I may be landing on my foot improperly. I had this happen in high school and needed physical therapy for a few months. I still remember most of the exercises to strengthen the muscles, so I'm going to start doing them before bed and see if it helps.

On a more positive note, I noticed that I am starting to get a muscle in both my forearm and bicep. I was ecstatic. I have very little upper body strength, but I really hope to change that. Someday, I'd like to be able to do real push ups and even a pull up when I have lost enough weight.

But seriously, I need to get my eating in check. No joke. I have to get this crap food out of this house and get a truck load of healthy food in here. I'm going to the grocery store tomorrow. I don't care if I have to walk!

I was suppose to go shopping today. Which happens to be day 131. But Michael's truck is messed up again. We changed the coil pack, plugs, plug wires, and rinsed out the radiator. Yeah, it starts, it runs, but now the idiotic thing is overheating. Michael thinks maybe he put one of the hoses to the heater core (I think is what he called it) back on wrong. So hopefully we can get that lined out tomorrow while he is off. I just pray it didn't destroy the truck when it overheated. That'd be our luck. Anyway, he had to drive our other car today and he worked 11-8 so my grocery trip didn't happen. Tomorrow.. one way or the other.

My feet were feeling better today so I hopped on the treadmill. I walked a mile and a half before the bottom of my foot started to feel sore again. I didn't want to push it any further than that. I don't need a blister. That'd ruin my walking for a week. I also did Tone Up Your Arms. Food wasn't ideal again today but it will be tomorrow. I'm going to try really hard to clean up my eating.

After working out, I took a quick shower and grabbed some lounge pants and my favorite ol' ratty tank. When I put them on, I noticed that they are starting to get pretty loose and that feels great. I had Bailey (my ten year old) snap a couple pics of me. I know the scales haven't moved since the last time I took pics, but I do feel thinner.

This is the same shirt in the before and during photos.

What do you think? Honestly?

Day 129

This morning, I was browsing around on Pinterest  (the most addictive time-suck ever) and saw this little sign.

I shared a couple yesterday that motivated me and thought I would share this one today. I don't want to annoy anyone by constantly posting these. But this blog is about my journey, my feelings, my successes and failures. So, why not share what motivates me? Who knows, it may motivate someone else too!

Ok.. back to the point.. I saw this little sign and a light went off in my head. I thought, they are right! You can have results or you can have excuses, but you know what, you can't have both!  If I want to lose this weight, I have to put in the work to do so. I can't sit here on my tush and lose the weight. It is not going to happen. I know this to be fact... just look where I was on January 1st. I have to move my body and attempt to watch what goes into my mouth.

Food today wasn't ideal. I ate more than I should have. I kept my calories within the limits set by Daily Plate, but once again I cut into my exercise calories and I really don't want to do that. I really need to sit down and plan my meals. I know that I can have a truckload of veggies for the same amount of calories that are in a muffin, so why do I eat the muffin? Makes no sense when you think about it. But when it is going into my mouth, well, that's another story. I really need to eliminate the foods that I just feel like I can't pass up. But how do you do that when your husband and children want those foods. It isn't like they are eating cupcakes. Its blueberry muffins. How do I say they can't have them in the house because their Mom has no self control?

It doesn't help my situation that I have enablers in my family. My Mom meant well when she baked gingerbread and sent it to me. She knows I love it, but I just can't have it or anything similar anywhere near me. It was super hard today not to eat the whole bowl. I didn't though. I just had one piece and told Michael to put it away. I tried to ask her not to send it to me, but she insisted that "one piece won't hurt you" and "you have to eat, you can't starve". Well no, one piece probably wouldn't hurt someone who isn't obese and I know I have to eat. I am not starving. But I don't have to eat foods that I know are triggers for me. Of course, I'd never say this to her because she would be deeply hurt. She is very ill and she still went to the trouble to make it and send it to me, that is very sweet of her.  How do you subtly drop hints that you can't have these foods without hurting someones feelings? Especially someone who does it out of the kindness of their heart?

Exercise on the other hand was pretty great today. I made it five miles on the treadmill. I did three miles, took a little break, and then did two more. It wasn't five miles straight, but it was five miles, none-the-less. My speed ranged from 2.7-3 mph, 1.5% incline. The slower speeds were while I was reading. I tend to get so into the book I forget where I am. Michael tells me one of these days I'm going to fall and break my neck.

The scales showed a nice drop this morning as Aunt Flo is taking her leave. I don't expect to see a drop in the morning because my calories were on the high side today even with the amount of exercise I got in. But that is ok. There is always the next day. I made an effort and that is what counts. My legs and heart are getting stronger even if it doesn't show a change in the number on the scale.

Before I skip out for the night, let me tell you what happened today while helping Michael work on his radiator. I accidently touched the electric fence. Yep. I sure did. I jumped up and down, screamed, about cried and said a few words that I probably shouldn't have. It was pretty hard for Michael to keep a straight face. Of course I wasn't hurt, well it hurts, but only for a second... but it scared the bloody heck out of me. Raised on a farm my entire life and I still don't pay attention. This is so something that happens to me. I bet it was pretty comical. I know I would have had a giggle had it been Michael. Have you ever touched an electric fence?

Have a great nite everyone!

Back on track!

I found these yesterday on Pinterest. They really seem to fit my situation and helped motivate me to get on that treadmill yesterday.

Finding out that I couldn't give my mom a kidney unless I lose 20 more lbs has been devastating. Instead of motivating me to work harder, it really set me back. Well, I think Aunt Flo had something to do with the level of emotions as well. But, I've come full circle and am ready to work as hard as I have to in order to lose the weight. My Mom deserves my 100% effort, but you know what, so do I!

You check out all my motivational pins, HERE.

Day 128

Ok, lets see.. It is after 1 am and I'm beat so this will be short and sweet.

Today was a MUCH better day for me. Thank you, God! Both physically and emotionally. I didn't feel nearly as insane today. No breaking down and crying for no reason or feeling like screaming to the top of my lungs. Hopefully that is a sign that Aunt Flo is about to move on to someone else.

The scales were down a couple pounds this morning, but I was and still am pretty bloated. Hopefully that big jump was just from Aunt Flo.

I kept my calories in check today, but I didn't make the best choices. I had three banana nut muffins. Yes, three! Why? Who knows.. they were there. I got most of my water in, but not all.  I even intentionally exercised. I walked 4.3 miles tonight while watching Cruel Intentions. 4 miles were at 3.0 and the other .3 miles was at 3.5 mph. Incline was 1.5%.  That is a new distance record for me. Yay!

Hopefully all this is a sign that life is coming back into place for me.

Nite everyone!

Day 127

My hormones are making me nuts! My emotions have been all over the place. Like a freaking roller coaster!

Yesterday I cleaned a little here in the house and vacuumed out the jeep. Other than that, I didn't do much of anything. I even skipped the Sunday dinner at Mom's. Yep. I was in a mood for sure. I slept til almost noon, took a two hour nap around five, and then went to bed early. It was the only way I could keep my emotions in control. I'm serious, Aunt Flo has made me crazy this time. Bat-crap crazy!

I did better better with my food intake, but still, I could have made much wiser choices. I didn't have any Diet Coke because we didn't have any in the house and I was too ticked off for no reason what-so-ever to go out and buy one. I managed to get all my water in too. I didn't even make an attempt to get on the treadmill, no excuses, I just didn't do it.
